On the morning of January 16, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE) welcomed the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City for a working session and the "Opening Ceremony of India Corner", which had been upgraded and relocated to a more convenient position within the campus. This activity aims to strengthen international cooperation, promote academic and cultural exchange, and facilitate easier access for faculty and students to learning resources about India and its people.

Attending the programme, on behalf of the Indian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, were Dr. Vipra Pandey – Consul General, and other representatives from the consulate. On behalf of HCM-UTE were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice President, along with representatives from the Office of International Affairs and the Center for Learning Resources and Digital Learning.

During the meeting, both sides came to an agreement on directions to promote comprehensive cooperation, focusing on key areas such as faculty and student exchange, scientific research, joint training programmes at the master's and doctoral levels, and the implementation of short-term training courses in engineering, high technology, and artificial intelligence (AI). In addition, both sides agreed to jointly organise scientific conferences, share learning materials, and strengthen connections with reputable training institutions and research institutes in India.

Speaking at the event, representatives from both sides emphasised the potential for cooperation between HCM-UTE and Indian partners in the context of higher education's increasing internationalisation, innovation, and digital transformation. With this strategic orientation, HCM-UTE identifies India as a key partner in developing international cooperation. To date, nearly 50 lecturers from the university have participated in the ITEC Program (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program), thereby contributing to improving training quality, expanding academic networks, and strengthening research capacity.

As part of the programme, the inauguration ceremony of the "India Corner" was held at the Center for Learning Resources and Digital Learning. This space is equipped with a diverse system of documents, publications, and learning materials about the people, culture, education, and science and technology of India, effectively supporting the learning and research activities of faculty and students.
This upgrade of the "India Corner" not only enhances cultural and academic exchange but also contributes to creating a highlight in foreign relations activities, affirming HCM-UTE's efforts in expanding international cooperation, aiming for a multicultural, integrated, and sustainable educational environment.
