To enhance international cultural exchange, expand opportunities for students to learn about the culture, humanity, science, and cinema of India, and concurrently contribute to stimulating internationalized education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE, formerly HCMC University of Technology and Education) received the Indian Vice Consul in Ho Chi Minh City while simultaneously organizing a free film screening program for students on August 26, 2026.

The event serves as an opportunity for HCM-UTE and the Indian Consulate General to foster connections and cultural exchange while expanding cooperation in education and academia.

Attending the program from HCM-UTE were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice President of the University; M.A. Nguyen Thoi – Deputy Head of the Office of International Affairs; M.A. Le Phan Nhat Hang – Deputy Head of the Office of Student Affairs; along with a large number of the University's students. Representing the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City were Mr. Tushar Garg, Vice Consul of India, and Mr. Dang Quang Vinh, Community Welfare Assistant.

At the event, Mr. Tushar Garg – Vice Consul of India spoke about the close ties between India and Vietnam, which were built on the foundation of history, culture, and long-standing connections, and are continuously developing in various fields, including education, culture, and people-to-people exchange. According to Mr. Tushar Garg, the relationship between the two nations is not only strengthened through diplomatic activities but also formed through connections within schools, college years, and cultural exchange activities. These activities contribute to helping the younger generations of both nations understand and connect more. Mr. Tushar Garg expects that exchange activities like the film screening in HCM-UTE will continue to open up opportunities for Indian and Vietnamese students to learn, connect, and build friendships, thereby contributing to the nurturing of the relationship between the two countries in the future.

Speaking at the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh, Vice President of HCM-UTE, stated that over the years, approximately 50 lecturers have had the chance to participate in the ITEC programs to enhance their professional expertise and exchange knowledge and experience. In addition, HCM-UTE has built India Corner with support from the Indian Consulate General and is continuing to develop academic partnerships with several Indian universities in areas including joint research, faculty and student exchanges, and academic collaboration. According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh, these collaborative and exchange activities serve as a bridge between HCM-UTE and India, contributing to greater mutual understanding, friendship, and cooperation between the University and its Indian partners. HCM-UTE looks forward to continuing to maintain and further develop these collaborative and exchange activities in the years to come.

As part of the program, HCM-UTE students had an opportunity to attend a free screening of the film “Mission Mangal”, directed by Jagan Shakti. The film was produced in India and is copyrighted by the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. Inspired by a true story about the scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation and their journey to place a Mars probe into orbit, “Mission Mangal” portrays the spirit of teamwork, creativity, and perseverance in overcoming challenges to accomplish an ambitious scientific mission.

Through film screening and interaction with the representatives of the Indian Consulate General in HCMC, students had the opportunity to learn about Indian culture, humanity, science, and cinema, while broadening their understanding of international culture. The event also contributed to strengthening exchange activities between HCM-UTE and the Indian Consulate General in HCMC, opening up more opportunities for both sides to maintain and develop connections, cultural exchanges, and cooperation in the time ahead.
