From 18 to 24 November 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) is honoured to welcome Assoc. Prof. Dr. John Bruning for academic exchange and exploration of future research collaboration opportunities. 

A/Prof. Bruning is an expert in biotechnology, protein engineering, protein structure, protein purification, structure-guided drug design, drug screening, infectious diseases, cancer, and biochemistry. He visited HCMUTE as part of his plan for a future sabbatical in Vietnam.

During his visit, HCMUTE leaders welcomed him for a meeting, campus tour and research activities in the laboratory, opening discussions on potential joint projects. Notably, his visit coincided with Vietnam’s Teacher’s Day, giving him the opportunity to engage in special activities with HCMUTE faculty and further enrich the academic exchange.

Academically, he delivered a seminar on “Principles of Protein Crystallography and Protein Structure”, alongside presentations from HCMUTE’s Organic and Pharmaceutical/Medicinal Chemistry lecturers. The session brought invaluable insights to senior Pharmaceutical Chemistry students. 

The visit also fostered important discussions on the possibility of co-supervising research students and further joint research projects in the future.

This exchange is part of HCMUTE's ongoing efforts to build strong international academic ties, paving the way for future collaboration in biotechnology and drug discovery.
