We are pleased to announce the call for applications for the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Japan 2026/2027, in collaboration with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the ASEAN University Network (AUN). The program supports pre- and post-doctoral researchers from ASEAN in all academic fields to conduct short- to medium-term research in Japan under the guidance of a host researcher. The fellowship offers generous financial support and aims to strengthen academic cooperation between ASEAN and Japan.

Fellowship Overview:

***Duration: 1 Apr 2026 – 31 Mar 2027 (1–12 months)

***Support Includes:
▪ Round-trip airfare
▪ Monthly allowance: 362,000 JPY (Ph.D.) / 200,000 JPY (pre-Ph.D.)
▪ Settling-in allowance: 200,000 JPY (for stays of 3+ months)

*** Who Can Apply:
- ASEAN nationals with a Ph.D. (obtained within 6 years, outside Japan)
- Doctoral students expecting to graduate within 2 years
- Non-ASEAN nationals engaged in research in ASEAN for 3+ years

***Required Documents:
- Completed application form
- Acceptance letter from Japanese host researcher
- Ph.D. diploma or expected completion certificate
- Recommendation letter from doctoral advisor or equivalent
(All documents must be in English or accompanied by English translation.)

***Important Dates:
- Application Deadline: 15 August 2025
- Result Announcement: February 2026

***How to Apply:
- Identify and contact a host researcher in Japan
- Submit application via the AUN web portal
- Wait for results from JSPS
